Life …..

Here are some of the things I have been thinking a lot about recently – and I wanted to share them with you all!

In 2009 three elders in my family passed away within a 3 month period. While it most certainly was a sad time for my family, for me it was very enlightening as well. Being back at the same church, saying the same prayers, saying good bye to loved ones 3 times over in three months made me realize – WOW – our time here on this planet is very short. While 85 years may seem like an eternity when you are 20 – it can go by very fast! I realized, in this modern society – that many of us act like robots, checking the blackberry, having no peace of mind EVER, working non stop – for what? A car? A bigger house? I can tell you this – when all 3 of my relatives were buried this summer – they were not buried with their money! So it was my promise to myself and them- that in 2010 I would change!

For Christmas this year – I got an amazing gift- a book of inspirational quotes- and I want to share some of the few that I think are important for everyone to read and consider…..

Life is not a journey to the grave with the goal of arriving safely and insignificantly at the end! This is YOUR LIFE, your one and only life. Don’t keep a beautiful thing like that to yourself!

Share it with your loved ones, with people who need your help and live each day as though it was your last!

This year I promise to have one new adventure each month – I want to try something fun and new each month – I will post pics as well as info on what I tried and my experience…..

    Dearest Becky,

First of all I am sorry for your losses this past year, just say to yourself they are in a better place.
You are right, we take nothing with us…my dad always says I was the son of a middle class man, I have never been rich but I have been able to take care of my family and have made provision so when i leave this earth they will be taken care of..but i leave this earth the way i came into it…all that is left is how people remember me, a good and honest man..

The running around is good for a time…but like a marathon runner when they stop they usually drop or faint…
I agree that the overworking, overdoing for greeds sake is unhealthy and in the end the rewards do not bring inner happiness, kings have never been happy,,,have you heard of one?

I have already done one thing I would never have done before, in 2 days i decided to go meet a friend abroad…left the kids for the first time, just got the ticket and went…did a world of good change of place even if it was just for 3 days, new faces, new places… if you smile, people are gracious and smile back…it’s worth a try…

Here are a few inspirational quotes for women to see…

The shortest distance between two points is a leap of faith, so let yourself believe in miracles, in yourself, believe that wishes really do come true…

Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. Give her sperm she will make a baby, give her a house she will give you a home, give her groceries she will make a meal, give her a smile she will give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what she is given.

Create the life you were meant to live, you’re someone who is truly amazing!

You are truly inspirational Becky and the fact that you are so down to earth is heartwarming..

    Sincerely,

    Nathalie

  2. I’m with you, Becky! I believe that we can all too often get caught up in our goals and forget to appreciate the gifts that each day gives. A few years, I made a commitment to not let this happen to me anymore. I developed my own personal mission. I would leave each person and place better than when I found them/it. This can be obvious things like doing volunteer work and doing my best at my work. But the more simple things are what help me stick to it. I smile at strangers in the grocery store. I write notes and give greeting cards for no reason. I pick up a stray plastic bag in the parking lot or piece of trash on the floor. Knowing that I am leaving a trail of ‘good’ in my wake makes the more challenging days bearable.

And I share your passion for adventure. I admit that I haven’t had much excitement lately, but my current adventure is working my way through your newest MP3s. So far, GOOD STUFF!

Thanks for the post and the reminders to get out and live life!
